: The Siddeley Autocar Company was initially created in 1902 by John Davenport Siddeley. During WWI the company (now Siddeley-Deasey) produced Lorries, ambulances & staff cars & from 1915 airframes & engines where produced. After WWI Siddeley-Deasey merged with Armstrong-Whitworth & a subsidiary Armstrong-Siddeley (which built the cars until 1960) was created. Between WWI & WWII Armstrong-Siddeley were involved in the construction of aero-engines & aeroplanes, railway lines & railway engines, & was the forefather of the Hawker Siddeley Aircraft to name but one modern company.
